Mr. O'Neil had lived in Penn Yan practically all of his life. He served three years in the Civil War in Co. C, 44th Reg. This company was originally raised for the 148th Reg., but the latter being filled up, it was attached to the 44th. The funeral was held Wednesday morning at St. Michael's church. The body was placed in the vault in Lake View cemetery, because the grave which had been dug in St. Michael's cemetery filled with water.
