McGrath, John |
September 22, 1865
Late a corporal of Co. B, Capt. Gardner�s, of Veterans Reserve
Corps, who was discharged at Elmira NY on September 11, 1865, claims
an invalid pension by reason of a gunshot wound of the left arm. Wound
was caused by a musket ball which entered the left arm 2 inches above
the wrist joint passing downwards and backwards through the arm
fracturing the ulna and weakening the wrist joint.
Disability (blank) and permanent. Fee $1.50 paid. Certificate made
and sent. Exam. not ordered.
April 20, 1866. A re-examination
Late a corporal in (Co.) B, 98th Regt. NY Vols. disability caused
by a musket ball which entered and passed through the left arm a
little above the wrist joint fracturing the ulna and injuring the
tendons of the flexor muscles of the forearm . The wrist joint and
hand is greatly weakened

McNall, Martin P.
|
A private of Capt. Fred Lewis' Co."G" 98th Regt. NY Vols.
discharged at Albany NY November 23, 1864 claims an invalid pension by
reason of alleged disability by reason of a gunshot wound. Was wounded
by a musket ball which entered the right thigh near the center passing
through it and also entering and passing through the left thigh. He
was wounded on May 16, 1864 at the battle of Drewry's Bluff. Wounds
remain unhealed. Disability total and probably permanent. Fee $1.50
paid. Certificate sent.

Meacham, Chauncey
|
Dickinson. June 15, 1865.
A private of Capt. Potter's Co."F" 142nd Regt. NY Vols.
in service of the US who was discharged at US General Hospital near
Troy NY May 25, 1865 by reason of a gunshot wound to the right arm,
causing disability, claims an invalid pension on account of the
present existence of said disability. Claimant's wound was caused by a
musket ball which entered the right arm on its outer surface about
halfway between the shoulder and elbow resulting in great destruction
of tissue. The wound has left a large, deep and adherent cicatrix. He
is unable to elevate his arm. There is also a permanent contraction of
the flexor muscles of the arm rendering extension of the arm
impossible. Disability total. Certificate made and sent. Fee $1.50
paid.

Merritt, George
|
A private of Co. "D" Capt. C.I.Olmsbee 5th Regt. VT Vols
who was discharged at camp in field in Virginia claims invalid pension
by reason of alleged disability resulting from a gunshot wound. Said
wound was made by a musketball which entered the left hand at the last
joint of the index finger resulting in the total loss of the hand and
a portion of the forearm. Disability total. Fee $1.50. Certificate
sent.

Late a private in Co. I, 106th Regt. NY Vols. who was discharged at
Albany NY on June 6, 1865, is an applicant for an invalid pension by
reason of disease of the heart (valvular) and general disability . He
has palpitations of the heart on making any physical exertion. He is
unable to perform manual labor. His disability is total.
Fee $1.50 charged to Govt. Certificate made and sent. Exam not
ordered.

Albany NY on the (blank) day of (blank) 1865 is an applicant for an
invalid pension by reason of a gunshot wound of the right hand
requiring the amputation of the index finger at the second joint.

Minor, William

April 25, 1865
A private of Capt. David O. Dobie's Co. "H" 118th Regt.
NY Vols. in the service of the United States who was discharged in the
field before Richmond on March 23, 1865 claims an invalid pension by
reason of an alleged disability resulting from gunshot wounds received
while in the service of the United States and in the line of duty.
Said William Minor received two wounds, one made by a musket ball
which entered his left shoulder just under the clavicle near its union
with the scapula, passing downwards and backwards and emerging from
the shoulder on the posterior surface 2 inches below the point of the
shoulder fracturing in its passage the neck of the scapula and so
injuring the parts about the joint as to render the arm entirely
useless. Disability total. Certificate made and sent. Fee paid.

A private in Co. F, 97th Regt. NY Vols. Disability caused by a
gunshot wound made by a musket ball which entered the right arm on the
inside, just opposite the elbow joint passing downwards and outwards
in front of the joint wounding the flexor muscles and causing
permanent flexion of the arm.
Disability 2/3 continues. Certificate made and delivered.
