Claims a pension on account of a gunshot wound made by a musket
ball entering the right leg on the inner surface a little in back of
the tibia which bone it entered shattering it Much inflammation
ensued, a discharge of pus and fragments of bone. The ball entered at
junction of the upper and middle third-direction upward and forward.
Certificate for total disability granted. Paid $1.50

Late a private of Co. H, 98th Regt. NY Vols. who was discharged at
Albany NY on the (blank) day of (blank) month , 1865 is an applicant
for an invalid pension by reason of a gunshot wound of the left hand.
Wound was caused by a musket ball which entered the left hand on the
posterior surface passing through between the metacarpal bones of the
ring and little fingers fracturing both, resulting in the entire loss
of little finger and complete and permanent contraction of the tendons
of the ring finger. The last joint of the other two fingers are
partially anchylosed.
Disability total. Fee $1.50 paid. Certificate made and sent. Exam
not ordered.

Late a private in Co. K, 121st Regt. NY Vols. in service of the US
who was discharged at York PA on May 3, 1865 is an applicant for an
invalid pension by reason of disability resulting from a gunshot wound
of the inferior maxillary bone. Wound was caused by a musket ball
which entered the face just anterior to the angle of the lower jaw,
passing inwards and forwards coming out a little left of the angle of
the mouth commusting(?) the jaw. There is great deformity of the jaw.
There is a cleft in the right side of the jaw. The teeth of the lower
jaw do not match those of the upper rendering mastication difficult if
not impossible. Disability total and permanent. Fee $1.50 paid.

Late a sergeant of Capt. Marvin Potter�s Co. F, 142nd Regt. NY
Vols. who was discharged at U.S.G.Hospital near Troy NY on July 28,
1865 is an applicant for an invalid pension by reason of an alleged
disability resulting from a gunshot wound of the right foot. Wound was
caused by a musket ball which entered the foot on its upper surface
just above the last joint of the third toe passing downwards through
the foot fracturing the metatarsal bones of the third and fourth toes
and causing an extensive necrosis of several bones of the foot. The
foot is exceedingly tender and swollen and deformed. Disability total.
Certificate made and sent. Fee $1.50 paid. Exam. not ordered.

Lowe, Henry |
October 16, 1865
Late a private in Co. I, 6th NH Veteran Vols. who was discharged
near Alexandria VA on July 16, 1865 (claims an invalid pension) by
reason of a gunshot wound of the left hand. The wound was caused by a
musket ball which passed through the first and second fingers of the
left hand. The index finger had to be amputated. The same day after
the wound was received while being carried from the field in an
ambulance, the ambulance was upset and he was thrown to the ground and
falling upon the wounded hand fractured all the remaining fingers of
that hand. All of the fingers are in a state of permanent extension.
He has entirely lost the use of the hand. Disability is total and
permanent . Fee $1.50 paid. Certificate made and sent. Exam not
ordered.

A private of Capt. Giles Co. "H" 98th Regt. NY Vols. who
was discharged from the service of the US at Armory Square Hospital in
Washington DC on January 23, 1865 is an applicant for an invalid
pension by the reason of the wounds caused by the bursting of a shell
at the battle of Cold Harbor VA on the 2nd of June, 1864. There is a
wound of the left arm caused by a piece of a shell which struck on the
posterior surface of the arm about 4 inches above the elbow joint
partially severing the extensor muscles of the same, materially
weakening it. There is also an extensive, deep and adherent
cicatrix(?) on the left hip caused by a piece of the shell which
struck him upon the dorsum illii causing lameness. Disability total
and permanent. Fee $1.50 paid. Certificate sent.
September 1866 Exam for increase ordered.

Late a sergeant in Co. A, 98th Regt. NY Vols. who was discharged
(from) service of the US on August 31, 1865 at Richmond VA is an
applicant for an invalid pension by reason of an alleged disability
resulting from a gunshot wound. Wound was caused by a grapeshot which
entered the chest at the right margin of the sternum near where it is
connected to the cartileges of the third and fourth ribs, passing in a
horizontal direction, and coming out under the right arm causing great
lameness of the side and occasioning a great difficulty of breathing.
Disability total and permanent. Fee. $1.50 paid. Certificate made
and sent.
