Huntington, Henry

Malone. July 13, 1865

A private of Co. C 97th Regt. NY Vols. in the service of the United States who was discharged at DeCamp General Hospital, David�s Island, New York Harbor, on June 14, 1865 is an applicant for an invalid pension by reason of an alleged disability resulting from a gunshot wound of the left leg. Said wound was caused by a musket ball which entered the left leg on its inner surface at the middle third, passing outwards and backwards severing the flexor muscles of the foot and so injuring the tibia as to cause exfoliation of the same, and extensive ulceration and sloughing of the soft parts. Applicant was wounded at Mechanicsville VA June 1, 1864 . The wound is unhealed. The muscles are contracted � he is unable to walk upon his leg. Ankle joint anchylon(?).

Disability is total. Fee $1.50 paid. Certificate made and sent. Exam. not ordered

Irish, Henry S.

Moira

A private of George E.Hall's Co.(4th) 2nd Battalion of the Veteran Reserve Corps who was discharged at New York City December 22, 1864 claims an invalid pension for an alleged disability by reason of a gunshot wound of the left hand. Musket ball entered at wrist joint or a little below it on the outer side passing through the hand from side to (side) fracturing the metacarpal bones of all the fingers of that hand. A large callous (bony) protrudes from the back of the hand producing much deformity. There is an entire loss of function of the hand. Disability . Fee $1.50 paid. Certificate sent.

Johnson, William J.

October 31, 1865

Late a private (corporal?) in Co. D, 142nd Regt. NY Vols. in the service of the US who was discharged at (blank) on the (blank) day of (blank) 1865, is an applicant for an invalid pension by reason of disability resulting from a gunshot wound of the right arm and lung. Wound was caused by a musket ball which entered the right arm at the union of the upper and middle thirds on its external surface passing inwards and downwards through the arm and entering the chest , passed out in a similar direction through the right lung and came out between the seventh and eighth ribs near their articulation with the spine. The brachial nerve was irreparably injured, causing partial paralysis of the whole arm. The muscles about the shoulder joint are contracted causing impaired motion of the joint. His lung has not recovered from the injury it sustained from the injury. His general health is broken down. He is unable to perform manual labor . Fee $1.50 charged to Govt. Disability total. Certificate made and sent. Exam. not ordered.
