Coyne, James |
Late a private in Co. H, 5th Regt. Vermont Vols. whose name is
inscribed on the pension list roll of Albany agency for 6 dollars per
month. Disability resulting from the effects of a gunshot wound of the
left hand. Wound was made by a musket ball which entered the left hand
on the posterior surface just above the last joint of the middle
finger, passing directly through the hand and through the distal joint
of the ring finger. Hand is permanently contracted.
Disability � and continues. Certificate made and delivered.

April 24, 1866. For an increase of pension.
Late a corporal in Co. H, 142nd Regt. NY Vols. was granted a
pension to be paid at the rate of six dollars a month for disability
of the right hand caused by a musket ball which severed the two last
fingers near the last joint. Wound was followed by an eryspolatous(?)
inflammation which suppurated at various points on the hand and above
the wrist joint causing anchylosis of the wrist joint and all the
joints of the fingers entirely destroying the use of the hand. The
inflammation extended up the arm affecting the shoulder and causing
contraction of the tendons about the shoulder joint producing a total
disability.

Moira, February 10th ,1866
Late a private in Co. E, 169th Regt. NY who was discharged on
August 12, 1865 at Albany NY is an applicant for an invalid pension by
reason of disability resulting from a gunshot wound to the right
shoulder and neck. Wound was caused by a musket ball which entered
just behind the point of the right shoulder, passing through it
fracturing the acromion process of the scapula , also passing the back
of the neck and through the left ear.. The muscles and tendons about
the shoulder joint are so contracted as to generally impede the motion
of the arm. He can raise the arm but a little by reason of the
contraction of the muscles and tendons aforesaid. Disability total and
permanent. Certificate made and sent. Exam. ordered.

Late a corporal of Capt. A.W. Cook�s Co. I, 57th Mass. Vet. Vols.
in service of the US who was discharged at Petersburg, VA on December
21, 1864 by reason of disability caused by a gunshot wound of the
right elbow joint. Wound made by a musket ball which entered the right
arm just above the external condyle passing downwards and backwards
___________ating the joint resulting in complete anchylosis of the
joint.. Arm is in a state of permanent flexion. Fee $1.50. Disability
total and permanent. Certificate.

at the rate of, I believe, four dollars per month. Certificate made

March 15, 1866
Late a private in Co. D, 98th Regt. NY Vols.whose name is on the
pension list roll of the Albany agency for 5 1/3 dollars per month for
disability resulting from a gunshot wound of the left arm. Wound was
caused by a musket ball which entered and passed through the arm about
three inches above the internal condyle of the humerus injuring the
same and causing permanent contraction of the flexor muscles of the
hand.
Disability 2/3 still exists. Annual examination required.

August 24, 1865
A private of Co. G, 57th Massachusetts Vols. in the service of the
United States who was discharged on July 30, 1865 is an applicant for
an invalid pension by reason of a disability resulting from gunshot
wounds. Applicant received two wounds�one of the right hand
occasioning the loss of the forefinger and thumb. The other a wound of
the right thigh made by a musket ball which entered the thigh on its
anterior surface near the groin, penetrated the deep tissue where it
remained till extracted. This last wound causes weakness and debility
of the muscles of the leg rendering action and long continued exertion
impracticable.
Disability � of a total disability. Certificate made and sent. Fee
$1.50 paid. Exam. not ordered.

A corporal of 1st Lt. S.B.Powell�s Co. B 98th Regt. NY Vols. In
the service of the United States who was discharged on May 27, 1865 at
US General Hospital at Ft.Monroe VA, is an applicant for an invalid
pension for an alleged disability resulting from a gunshot wound of
the right hand. Said wound was caused by a musket ball which entered
the back of the hand passing through the hand laterally, fracturing
the metacarpal bones of the first three fingers. The hand is perfectly
useless, it being in a state of permanent extension. He is unable to
flex the fingers in the least. The disability is total and permanent.
Examination not ordered. Fee $1.50 paid. Certificate sent.

July 19, 1865
Late a private of Co. "D" 142nd Regt. NY Vols. in service
of the United States who was discharged at Annapolis MD on June 30,
1865 claims invalid pension by reason of an alleged disability
resulting from a gunshot wound of the right wrist joint. Wound was
made by a musket ball which entered the wrist joint on its posterior
surface passing diagonally backwards and upwards fracturing the joint
and both bones of the forearm resulting in anchylosis of the joint and
stiffening of the fingers. His hand is in a state of permanent
extension.
Disability resulting: total. Fee $1.50 paid. Certificate made and
forwarded. Examination not ordered.

Davis, Harlow J. |
January 18, 1866
Late a private in Co. F, 142nd Regt. NY Vols. claims an invalid
pension by reason of an alleged disability resulting from a gunshot
wound of the left leg. Wound was caused by a canister shot which
entered the leg just above the knee joint and passed up the outer side
of the leg and lodged near the hip joint. It fractured the femur and
caused severe inflammation of the whole. There is shortening of the
leg and complete anchylosis of the knee joint. He is unable to walk
without the aid of crutches.
Disability total and permanent. Fee charged to the Govt. Exam
ordered.
