Isaac Barrett built the grist-mill and saw-mill at Joachim, in 1830-32 for Lucien Murat, who was a nephew of Naipoleon. Isaac Barret married Patience Hudson and had 1, Francis settled in Clayton; 2, Enos; Sophia; Gennette; Hiram and Erastus.
A family of Baxter, of whom the daughter Emmeline became the 2d wife of Capt. John Hbover and a daughter Mehitable married) a Wilson from Cape Vincent
Henry Becker, born 1779, in Albany County, married Thankful Hillman and had Mary married as 2d wife Jacob Willson; Jacob married Julia Howe; Rev. George W. married Semantha Chadwick; Henry jr. born March 29, 1807.
Fortunatus Beebe, married Abigail Barrett. iHe died in Evans Mills, Jan. 12, 1852, age 75 years. Of the Hoovers in LeRay, there was Capt. John Hoover, Robert Hoover, Peter Hoover, Peter Hoover (called Short Pete to distinguish him) , Adam Hoover; Moses Hoover, Henry Hoover and Elizabeth, the wife of Robert Sixbury, all came in from the Mohawk Valley as early settlers. Peter J. Hoover (called Long Pete) married Gertrude Cypher and had 1, Peter, died unmarried; 2, Jacob, died unmarried; 3, Joseph, married Mary Friend; 4, Eli married Kate Walradt; 5, Jeremiah married Lucy Hart; 6, Mary married Jacob Sixbury; 7, Margaret married Moses Hoover; 8, Anna married Peter Ponchau; 9, Henry J. married Eliza Anthony; 10, Julia married Philip Snyder; 11, Luanda, died unmarried; 12, Alexander, died unmarried. John Adam Walradt married Elizabeth Moyer and died in LeRay Feb. 27, 1831, age 58. Robert Sixbury, born March 6, 1763; was an Indian hunter and tra{>per and was probably the first white settler in this vicinity at the age of 14. The organization of the town was in his lo|g cabin in 1804. He lived to the age of 109, dyhig in LeRay in 1872; married Elizabeth Hoover and had: 1, John marmied Barbara Mehl; Polly married Isaac Louis Cushman; Betsy married Ahi Shattuck; Jacob married Mary Hoover; Alexander married A. Croissant; Anna married Isaac Walradt; Isaac married Caroline Fikes; Almira married Joseph Bichet.
