Cemetery Inscriptions, LeRay, Jefferson County, New York
In the northwestern part of the town of LeRay, between the villages of Evans Mills and Theresa, is a territory called variously “Joachim” and “Dutch Settlement” The first name was given from a son of Joachim Mtirat, who attempted a settlement here, and the second name was used to designate the early settlers, many of whom were of the Palatines of the Mohawk Valley ancestry, and not Dutch at all.
